Final words of Ernest Shackleton
Ready to leave Grytviken for the Antarctic in the morning, Shackleton described the evening's sunset in his diary, ending, “In the darkening twilight I saw a lone star hover gem-like above the bay.” He then went to bed and died at 3:30 am.
